12/12

netball information

This is my infographic I made on netball. We had to make some sort of presentation on something we’ve learnt this year. I chose to do it on canva.

term 4

This term we’ve done some art. We did Mondrian art. Using 3 colours, thick and thin lines.  We did a version on paper and another on google drawings. We did poetry. One was ‘I come from’ and another is ‘I am’.  For the I am we used different words and icons to describe ourselves and for the I come from poem we listed memories from our lives.

August

  • Street art design

Mr Baker made us make a Foxton Beach/Foxton street art design. We had to brainstorm what images/words we wanted to put on and then we put them together on canva.

  • Design Task

We had a shoe, shirt and hat to design. We had to make a logo and a brand name (for the shirt and hat). The shoe was about us. Like our name, favourite colour, favourite thing, etc.

  • Kandinsky Art

We practiced doing some Kandinsky art. We did the Squares with concentric circles one. Then once we had finished that we had worksheets to practice line work with paintbrushes. We all got primary colours and then had to make secondary colours and try them out. We had all kinds of colours and tints and it was pretty fun.

July/August

  • Cambodian elephant designs

Mr Baker went to Thailand and saw a couple elephant design pieces. He thought they were cool and even brought a t-shirt with one on it. He gave us a couple days and we all drew an elephant and put some Cambodian designs on it.

  • Cricket

Yesterday we had a man from the Horowhenua cricket team come to our school and teach everyone. He went from class to class, youngest to oldest. The girls lost the last game so we had to do 15 push-ups. The boys lost the 2nd game so they had to do a 2-minute plank.

  • Matariki gala

Our school did a gala for Matariki on the 14th (July). Me and a couple other students learnt how to weave so we could have a stall and teach kids how to do it. There was a photo booth and me and my friend got a couple pictures in it. Some members of the home and school made Hangi and Fry bread. You had to buy tickets to get them. My mum got a free bag of fry bread because there were leftovers. There were a couple food trucks there if you wanted some food or a drink. A couple people also run a bbq.

  • Growth Mindset

This term, Mr Baker had been teaching us PBS and the difference between growth and a fixed mindset. It depends on how you think of mistakes and choices and how good they may actually be. We each got a couple lollies the other day. We learnt how to mindful eat and how to think about food and drinks when you’re eating or drinking.

  • Novel Studies

Our reading focus this term is Novel Studies. Each group gets a different book and we read to a certain set point and answer questions for the chapters. My group’s book is Small Steps, a follow-up to Holes.

  • Logo design

We’ve learnt how to design logos. We all had to make a name for our brand and find some images for inspiration for our logos. We put the logos and brand names onto hats.

June 2023

This term we have been doing science: bread making. We made title pages for it in our inquiry books. We wrote down a couple key parts of making bread. On our computers we made a padlet each and put things about bread and making bread, we also added 5 images of different bread types on it.

The writing that we have been doing is persuasive. I chose to do why dogs are better than cats. We learned to do the different parts of writing  (conclusion, introduction etc.)

On Monday (19/6) me and like 10 other students went to the caravan park to do an opening of our Mural art. 122 students out of 160 worked on it and it took us a couple weeks to do.

My padlet:

15.5.23

In maths, I have learned more about my basic facts. I learned my 7 timetables and how to do square roots. I improved my test score by 4.

Mr Stuart left and Mrs Morresey came back. She came into our class and learned all over our names, it only took her a couple of days.

Pounamu and I went to the Foxton cenotaph and read a couple sentences with some other schools for Anzac Day. We went there at 9am, we left at about 10am but it went on longer.

We each did infographics for ANZAC.

Hello!

I haven’t been at school this week because I was in Australia.

I left New Zealand around lunch on Wednesday the 26th of October, And arrived back to New Zealand on the 2nd of November.

I went to Australia to see the Melbourne Cup on the 1st. I didn’t get to stay very long because it started hailing and my parents took me home. When it was raining me and my brother were the only dry ones because his jacket touched the ground, and I was curled up in mine.

My parents took me and my brother to a Ice Cream shop, I got a Strawberry and Raspberry one. They also took us to a Candy Shop. We all brought ourselves a selection of lollies.

Going to Australia was fun. I stayed at my aunties house in of her spare rooms. Next time that I go might take more pictures and videos. I might also buy more things because I didn’t spend much money.
